Special School for Migrant Children emerged in the year 2006. The motive behind of this program is to provide education to the migrant children from 6 to 13 years of age. Migrant population did not have the facility to leave their children, while they went for work. Children also did not get nutritious food in the absence of their working parents. These children could not attend school since their mother tongue was Telugu, Oriya and Hindi. To mitigate this issue, RDT started special school for migrant children where they can learn their subjects in their own vernacular.
Classes in the special schools are conducted from 9.00 A.M to 4.00 P.M. Teachers who know the mother tongues of migrant children are appointed to guide the children. All the subjects have been taught in the schools and regular examinations are conducted to know their progress. All the children are provided free educational materials. They are also given 2 sets of uniform and 2 sets of color dress. Children are also given nutritious food in the noon. Children who complete their education are provided transfer certificates to pursue their high and higher education. Children are also provided nutritious flour every day to balance their BMI (Body mass index). Children are taught extracurricular activities in the schools and they get opportunities to exhibit their talents in competitions and commemorations.
Online classes were also conducted when there was lock down at the time of pandemic. Children, who were in access to devices, were supported with devices.
