Tailoring Centre

Women from disadvantaged sections in Thiruporur Block were remaining home as house wives without optimizing their potentials and bringing income to the family. Rural development Trust has motivated Adolescents, young girls and married women to learn tailoring in view of supporting their families financially. Tailoring Course started in the year 2016. Trainees who are living in and around RDT are trained here.

The first batch is learning from 9.30 A.M to 12.30 P.M. The second batch attends the course from 1.00P.M to 4.00P.M. This course is conducted for 6 months. The course is conducted at RDT office, Thandalam. All the students are taught cutting the clothes, embroidery, handicrafts making and stitching. This tailoring course is conducted at free of cost. Centers who conduct this course get Rs.3000 for learning. RDT offers this course without getting a single pie from the students. All who learn here are from poor family background? Husbands of married women and the children of fathers are going for daily wages.

RDT has already provided this training to 400 women. All who got trained own tailoring machines and work as tailors. They earn Rs.3000 in a month. Some of them are going to export companies where they get Rs.10000 as monthly salary. This activity has altered the life of poor women and made them gain self-confidence. Students who come here are trained in disciplined life and ethical principles. Families are able to save money, since they stitch their dress materials. They also build their relationship skills and behave polite with others, as they are inducted for this training. Students who learn are very eager in learning and their regular attendance shows their dedication.
